Thanks for commenting, Laura! I'm glad he's getting lead roles that he wasn't really getting here in the US. I'll be looking forward to what you'll write about him, he's really grown a LOT as a dancer since Center Stage. Be sure to be a lookout for dancer Moises Martin as well - he was one of my favorites when he was here in San Francisco, and I loved it when he danced with his brother, Ruben Martin, here with San Francisco Ballet. His presence is missed.

I've only seen Nina dance once, and it was with her Georgia company and not with ABT. I would have loved to have seen her Giselle with ABT; I heard her and Angel Corella as Albrecht was something heavenly. I'm glad she sold out her performance in Japan.

Hello, jolene,

Indeed I attended almost all of the ABT Japan tour and it was marvelous! Especially, Le Coisaire with Nina, Marcelo, Herman as Ali and Sacsha as Birbando was brilliant. On the Nina Corsaire day, the tickets were sold out and the audience loved Nina and the company. I am saddened by the tragedy happening to Nina's country.
And Sacsha was great too! I have been visiting the MET season almost every year for about 5 years and Sacsha has grown to such an brilliant, bravura artist during the years with beautiful feet and technique. He danced the role of Benno in Swan Lake and was very good.
Marcelo was great as Conrad with his elegance and great support, and Herman's Ali made the audience scream with joy with his superb technique such as his leaps and pirouettes.

Thanks Naomi! I'm assuming that you went to see ABT in Japan - how were they? What role did Sascha dance in Swan Lake?

Hello, I am an ABT fan in Tokyo and I am saddened by the news that Sacha is leaving ABT because he danced so brilliantly at the Japan tour in Le Coisaire and Rabbit and Rogue, Swan Lake.

He will be a first solist(=principal) at Het Dutch National Ballet and is already listed on the roaster.

Thanks for the info, Tonya! Is he going to Nederlands Dans Theater, I wonder? That dance company is really attracting a lot of dancers - do I sense a little bit of a trend of American dancers going to Europe to dance? From Noelani (from the Winger) from PNB to Ballet des Monte Carlo, to Sascha...

For Sascha, it was great to see him really grow into the dancer that he is today, from Center Stage to his performance in R&R. He's really matured in his dancing, and it was thrilling to see him fly.

I promise I'll blog about it soon!

Aw, thanks for the pics! I didn't know this was Sascha's last performance with ABT -- it's nice they gave him a little farewell. I'm excited to hear more about what you thought of Rabbit and Rogue. You saw the same cast I did, which I really liked. Most of the critics who reviewed it here saw a different cast, and I think that might have made a difference. Sounds like you had a fabulous visit to LA and I can't wait to hear more!

Oh, Philip said Sascha was going to a company in the Netherlands. I'm not sure where he heard that from though...
